PixilUI and LlamaIndex chat-ui
@llamaindex/chat-ui: React chat components for LLM apps (ChatSection, ChatMessages, ChatInput, ChatCanvas and widgets) built on shadcn/ui and Tailwind, under MIT.
The run-llama/chat-ui repository on GitHub was archived by its owner on 3 November 2026. The latest npm release is 0.6.1, from 28 August 2025, and the documentation link on ui.llamaindex.ai returned 404 on 4 November 2026.

If you keep chat-ui for the conversation, PixilUI items can render inside its messages or beside its canvas. Both use Tailwind; chat-ui reads shadcn/ui theme variables and PixilUI its own tokens.

Is LlamaIndex chat-ui still maintained?
Its GitHub repository was archived by its owner on 3 November 2026, which makes it read-only, and the latest npm release is 0.6.1 from 28 August 2025. Code you installed keeps working, since the shadcn route copies source into your project.
What should I use instead of LlamaIndex chat-ui?
For the chat shell, a maintained chat library such as assistant-ui or AI Elements from shadcn/ui. For the moments where an agent asks or works (approvals, runs, tool calls, thinking and streaming text), PixilUI. They install side by side.
